This coming Wednesday, February 22nd, is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the season of Lent and which is a day of fast and abstinence. For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.
Please consider beginning your Lenten journey by attending Mass on Ash Wednesday. The Mass times are:
7:00 AM
8:15 AM (School Mass)
5:30 PM (Archbishop Lori) – NO 4:30 PM confessions or adoration.
President’s Day Schedule Monday, February 20th is President’s Day. We will offer only one Mass at 8:15 AM and there will be no 4:30 PM confessions or adoration. In addition, the Parish Center will be closed that day in observance of the federal holiday.
Livestream Since before the pandemic, Cathedral has been streaming all daily and weekend Masses. We are one of the only parishes to have kept this schedule. Now that more and more people are returning to in-person worship, the number of viewers has steadily declined. Therefore, we have made the decision to stream only the 7:00 AM daily Mass from Monday through Friday, the 8:15 Saturday morning Mass, the 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday (Vigil for Sunday), and the 11:00 AM Mass on Sundays. This schedule allows for a streamed Mass every day without having to stream every Mass. I also hope that this reduced streaming schedule brings more people to the cathedral for in-person worship.
Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries This weekend is the In-Pew Giving Weekend for the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. Please be prepared to commit to making a pledge to the annual appeal if you have not done so already. This is our opportunity to support the many vital ministries of the archdiocese as well as our own parish. This year’s appeal rebate will be dedicated to repairing the cathedral bell system. Thank you for your generosity.
May God bless you.

Giving Report
There is no second collection this weekend. Next week, the 2nd Collection is for the Preservation Trust.
Christ’s Light can shine through us and be shared with others simply by the love we show, the hope we provide, the gifts we give, and the ministries we deliver. The Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries creates missionary disciples through evangelization, delivers resources and aid to thousands facing homelessness and food insecurity, and provides invaluable support for pregnant women and mothers in need. For our appeal rebate this year Cathedral will use the funds to repair our broken bell system.
