TIME OF SESSIONS
  • The Sunday School of Religion meets most Sundays from 10:30 - 11:30am, from October to May. There are 24 classes in all.

REGISTRATION

  • All children coming into the program are to be registered through the Office of Religious Education before being admitted into classes.
  • No child is accepted into the class the opening day unless he/she has first been properly registered at the office.
  • Families registered with The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen are given priority.

TUITION

  • Tuition is billed in September.
  • Payment is requested by October 15.

ATTENDANCE

  • The children are expected to be in their classes 5-10 minutes before classes begin.
  • Parents are asked to call the Office of Religious Education at 464-4010 to report absences. A written excuse is acceptable.
  • A student with five (5) absences will repeat the grade. A parent who sees that lessons are made up and consults with the teacher may have the policy of repeating the grade waived.
  • Grade 8 students are allowed only three (3) absences, as Confirmation preparation takes place at this time.
  • Students who arrive 15 minutes late will be considered absent.
  • Perfect attendance awards are not given to anyone who comes late for class more than once.
  • The teachers and/or the Office of Religious Education staff will call parents whose child is repeatedly late or absent.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

  • A message will be put on the Office of Religious Education answering machine (464-4010).
  • DO NOT CALL THE RECTORY.

CLASSROOM ORDER

  • Classroom rules must be clearly understood and students must have an appreciation of the reasons for them.
  • The following policy applies in particular to grades 5-8:
  • Only one correction is to be made by a catechist for unacceptable behavior.
  • Should a student be disrespectful or cause any disruption after the first correction, this student will be sent to the office.
  • The parents of the student will be called and a conference arranged with the catechist and parents.
  • Should unacceptable behavior continue, the student will be dismissed from the Sunday School of Religion.

PARKING
Arrival:

  • Children may be dropped off in the circle at the front entrance of the school.
  • Parents and teachers are requested not to park in the circle in front of the school.

Dismissal:

  • Park on the lot nearest the school to pick up your children.
  • Double parking in front of the school is not allowed.

  • Parking on Amberly Way is unacceptable.

  • Everyone must leave and enter by the front door of the school.

  • Because we have published recommendations and asked for cooperation, The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen will take no responsibility for any accidents involving an injured child or an injured adult.

TEXT BOOKS

  • Students who repeatedly come to class without text books or other required materials (assignments) may be sent to the office. Repeatedly coming to class without a text book may be considered as an absence.
  • There is a fee for lost or mutilated text books.
