A message from
Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Armstrong, Rector

Dear Parishioners, Guests, and Friends:

Welcome to the Internet home of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.

At the beginning of the Third Millennium, the Church commits itself with renewed enthusiasm to the spread of the Gospel. Today, we have an unprecedented opportunity to use the power of technology and the World Wide Web to link parishioners to each other and to parish ministries, creating a stronger sense of community within the parish, as well as to share the gifts of our Cathedral and the message of the Gospel to the larger community of the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Christians throughout the world.

From its modest beginnings in the mind of its donor, Thomas J. O’Neill, and Archbishop James Cardinal Gibbons, who encouraged O’Neill, the Cathedral stands as a magnificent monument to the faith of Baltimore’s Catholics. Honoring the Blessed Mother, it is one of the largest and most exquisite cathedrals in the United States. This, the Cathedral church of our nation’s First Diocese, contains a vast array of architectural innovation, sculpture, stained glass, carvings, and statuary. Its soaring arches and towers lift one up to the glories of God, His Son, Jesus, and Mary, our Queen. I hope you discover something of the treasure of our Cathedral in the virtual tour and in the artwork contained throughout the site.

In this technology-rich environment, we believe that information and communication technologies are God-given gifts that can be used "to speak to everyone," because these gifts increase our ability to minister; bring the uniqueness of the Cathedral alive to the parish, the Archdiocese, and the world; link our diversity as a parish into a unified global community of faith; and engage and involve a variety of parishioners at all levels of the ministries of the Cathedral. I am grateful to all who have made this Internet ministry a reality.

Thank you for visiting with us.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Armstrong
Rector
