Rosary Moms Group

Pray the Rosary and enjoy spiritual support and friendship with the Rosary Moms Group.

The "Rosary Moms" is a group of Cathedral Parish women who meet once a month to pray the Rosary at one of our members' homes. The group has women at all stages of life, and with all kinds of connections to the parish. Many in the group have children at the School of the Cathedral, hence the name "Rosary Moms," but it by no means excludes women who are not moms or who do not have children in the school. It is a wonderful group of believers in the power of the Rosary to uplift us through prayer and reflection. The word has spread to friends and others, so our monthly gathering may have anywhere from five to twenty-five participants. Hosting the Rosary Moms group is voluntary.

We meet each month on the night which is most convenient for the hostess. This way, there is variation of which week (depending on the holidays) and which night (Monday - Thursday). We hope and trust that this allows everyone to participate at least a couple of times a year even if they have standing commitments on a particular evening.

We begin meetings at 8 p.m. with light refreshments and then pray the Rosary from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It doesn't matter how comfortable you are praying the Rosary because "cheat sheets" and Rosaries are provided.

We consider ourselves fortunate to have the Rosary Group as well as our friends in the Cathedral Sodality Group who invite us to share in the Sodality Holy Hour on the third Thursday of each month from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Sodality Holy Hour includes a Benediction, praying the Rosary, and silent prayer with Father Bianco.

"I would like to suggest to all of you that you intensify your praying of the Rosary, privately and in community, to obtain from the Lord those graces that the Church and humanity especially need. I invite everyone to do this: children, adults, young and old, families, parishes and religious communities."

~ Pope John Paul II
in his message for the
77th World Mission Day.
