Echoing the early church's understanding of the value of the family, the Second Vatican Council, has bestowed on families the beautiful and deserved title, "the domestic church". As the church of the home, families are places of faith, joy, hope and love and are integral to the mission of the universal church. To support and strengthen families as centers of faith, the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen offer a variety of programs and activities.

Parish & Family Life Ministry encompasses all stages of the life cycle. See our list of activities in the box on the right and examples of our ministry below.

Young Adult Ministry interested in spiritual, social and service activities in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

For couples preparing for the sacrament of marriage, the Office of Parish & Family Life Ministry offers the Sponsor Couple Program.

In addition to preparation classes, parents of newly baptized infants are offered Parent Letters, a series of letters containing prayers, parenting tips and ideas for sharing faith in the family.

Ministry with those who are separated, divorced or widowed and the identification and development of resources for hurting families are also facets of the prisms of family ministry.

The Parish & Family Life Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month from September through May. Event volunteers are not required to attend the meetings.
