 Little People's Church

Little People's Church Schedule

Little People’s Church is a religious education program for preschool children ages 3 through 5. Children are introduced to our loving, caring God and His Son, Jesus, through Bible stories, prayer, songs of praise, and arts & crafts.

All LPC volunteers must attend a STAND training! There is a complete listing of trainings on the Archdiocesan website. For more information on STAND, please see the Archdiocesan website: http://www.archbalt.org/STAND/

If you have questions regarding STAND, please e-mail Amy Buttarazzi.

Little People's Church is held during the 9:15 a.m. Mass during the months of October through May.  Click here to check the schedule. For more information, please contact the Office of Parish & Family Life Ministry at 410-464-4012, or email us.

PROGRAM GOALS:
Our goals are to foster positive feelings about coming to Church to learn about God, and to introduce children to our loving, caring God, and his Son, Jesus. We do this in a structured setting which enhances and encourages their listening skills for future religious education.

PROGRAM CURRICULUM:
Purposeful play, songs, finger-plays, crafts and prayer will be used each week to help the children learn the message of the Old and New Testament Bible stories.

To reinforce what they learn in the classroom, each week the children receive a 4-page take-home lesson, published by William H. Sadlier, Inc. Please take note of the section which gives ideas for the parents and family.

GUIDELINES:
Arrival:
Doors open at 9:00am. Older siblings are NOT permitted to drop-off or pick-up children. The doors remain open until 9:30am. If you arrive after the doors are shut, we ask that you take your child to Mass with you so the Bible story time is not interrupted.

Parent Participation: Parents play an integral part in Little People's Church, and are asked to sign up as a volunteer once during both Fall and Spring Sessions. Parents help set up, clean up and are extra hands in the classroom. Substitute teachers and weekly classroom volunteers are also needed.

Toys: Please encourage your child to leave all stuffed animals, jewelry, favorite toys and "security blankets" at home or in the car.

Snacks/Bathroom Visits: We will not provide snack time for the children. We would appreciate it if your child eats breakfast and visits the bathroom before you bring him/her to Little People's Church.

Illness: Out of consideration for others, if your child is vomiting or had a fever/diarrhea within 24 hours prior to Sunday morning, please do not bring your child to Little People's Church that day.

Attendance: If your child is absent for at least 3 consecutive Sundays, we will mail a postcard to encourage your attendance.

Dismissal: Please make sure that one or both parents come to pickup your child. We will not let a child leave with an older sibling. Children are dismissed one at a time, please stay outside the doors so the Class Leaders can bring your child to you.

Inclement Weather: We do not follow the CCD closings for inclement weather. If you would like to know if LPC is cancelled, you can call the main number of the Cathedral parish office at 410-464-4000,  check this web page or your check your e-mail. Of course Mass is never cancelled, and children are welcome to attend with you.

Visiting Friends: Registered children may bring a friend if they are an out-of-town guest or "sleep over" and the visiting child is between 3 and 5 years old.
