Orientation:

Job Description: Volunteers can help in the following areas:
- Day Care Volunteer assist counselors in providing daily
activities for children. Activities include reading stories to children,
going over shapes and colors, helping children work on an arts and
crafts project, or leading a game of musical chairs.
- After School Volunteer assist counselors in providing daily
activities for children. Activities include helping children with
homework, going to the gym with counselor to play games, or assisting
counselor in leading activities such as kids cuisine, movement,
and arts and crafts.
- Literacy Volunteer provide reading instruction to small
groups of children attending After School program. (In order to
carry out reading instruction program, volunteers are trained in
the Lindamood-Bell approach to reading.)
Orientation: Required.
Availability: After school on weekdays, weekends, Winter Break,
Spring Break, and Summer Vacation. Occasionally, events take place on
Saturdays. The Day Care program is open on many days when schools are
closed and this allows many volunteers to come when school is not in
session.
