What
are saints???
We
are saints! All believers, all who love Jesus
Christ, all the faithful.
From
the Catechism para. 91:
All the faithful share in understanding and handing
on revealed truth. They have received the anointing
of the Holy Spirit, who instructs them (cf. 1
John 2:20, 27 )
and guides them into all truth (cf. John 16:13 ).
And
para. 2684:
The Spirit is truly the dwelling of the saints
and the saints are for the Spirit a place where
he dwells as in his own home since they offer
themselves as a dwelling place for God and are
called his temple (St. Basil).
And
para. 2013:
All
Christians in any state or walk of life are called
to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection
of charity. All are called to holiness: "Be
perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect"
(Matt 5:48 ).
In order to reach this perfection the faithful
should use the strength dealt out to them by Christ's
gift, so that . . . doing the will of the Father
in everything, they may wholeheartedly devote
themselves to the glory of God and to the service
of their neighbor. Thus the holiness of the People
of God will grow in fruitful abundance, as is
clearly shown in the history of the Church through
the lives of so many saints.
Doesn't
"saint" mean holy ones who are now in
heaven?
