What are sacraments
and why do we need them?

Holiness is not easy, but through the sacraments God provides everything we need to live as true Christians.

"Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has provided everything we need for life and godliness, through knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and power. Thus he fulfills his very great and precious promises, so that you may participate in his divine nature and escape the corruption that evil has caused in the world."

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1084:

How does God provide this help???

Seated at the right hand of the Father and pouring out the Holy Spirit on his Body which is the Church, Christ now acts through the sacraments he instituted to communicate his grace. The sacraments are perceptible signs (words and actions) accessible to our human nature. By the action of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit they make present efficaciously the grace that they signify.

Why do we need the sacraments to receive grace?
