The robing room displays the stole that Pope John Paul II wore during his visit to the Cathedral in 1995 (right).

The original sets of vestments for the Cathedral were created by the international firm of René Lorrain and Cie, Inc.

They were sewn in Bruges, Belgium, which was known for centuries for its intricate lace work.  Each of the vestments has emblems of the Madonna and other intricate symbols from scripture and the liturgy in its design.
