On the left is Saint Rose of Lima, a late sixteenth century virgin who led a virtuous life and became the first canonized saint of the Americas (feast day August 23rd). To right of Saint Rose is Saint Philippine Duchesne, early seventeenth century religious who introduced the Society of the Sacred Heart to North America at Saint Louis in 1818 (feast day November 17th). |
