Pope John Paul II prayed in this shrine on September 26, 1969, when he was still Cardinal Wojtyla.

The windows just to the left of this shrine are dedicated to Saints of the Americas.

On the left is Saint Rose of Lima, a late sixteenth century virgin who led a virtuous life and became the first canonized saint of the Americas (feast day August 23rd).

To right of Saint Rose is Saint Philippine Duchesne, early seventeenth century religious who introduced the Society of the Sacred Heart to North America at Saint Louis in 1818 (feast day November 17th).
