The stone panel to the left shows the seven sorrows of Mary, highlighting her grief at the foot of the Cross. The seven sorrows are (counterclockwise from lower left): the prediction of Simeon; the flight into Egypt; losing Jesus in the Temple; meeting Jesus on His way to Calvary; the Crucifixion; the removal of Jesus' body from the Cross; and the laying of Jesus' body in the tomb. The text comes from the Litany of Mary.
Simeon predicted that Mary's heart would be pierced by a sword when her boy would become the salvation of many. The stone panel on the right shows Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The text, which is taken from Matthew 21:9, is proclaimed by the congregation during the Palm Sunday Liturgy.

"Blessed is He that comes
in the name of the Lord!"
