The stone panels in this bay are two of the four in the Cathedral that depicts the mission and community of the Church.

The text is from Acts 1:8. It's Jesus' final message to His disciples before He ascended to heaven -- and it's His message to all of us today, you included!

To the left, Saint Paul, the great missionary of the Church, is shown in the center. Surrounding him are four Americans whose missionary spirit has carried the Gospel to various lands.

(Left to right) Father Thomas Price and Bishop James Anthony Walsh who founded Maryknoll (1911), America's first missionary society; and on the right are Mother Elizabeth Lange who founded the Oblate Sisters of Providence (1829); and Mother Mary Demetrias first general of the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart (1906).

The stone panel to the right recalls the unity of the Church. Shown here is Pope Pius XII welcoming various members of the Church. In the background is The Basilica of Saint John Lateran (left), which is the cathedral church of Rome, and Saint Peter's Basilica (right). The text below it, from Psalm 137, is used at the dedication of churches.
