The text is taken from Hebrews 9:22 and ties this picture into the true meaning of Christ's death.
The stone panel on the left announces the root themes of Lent by threading together the tragedy of the fall of humanity in the sin of Adam and Eve, the destructive but cleansing flood of which only Noah was spared, and the prophetic event of Abraham ready to sacrifice his son Isaac. God spared Abraham's son but would not spare His only Son in Jesus Christ.
The right stone panel shows the parable of the sower from Luke 8:5-15, which was read on the sixth Sunday of Lent. The text ties the seed to the Word of God. Is His Word reaching fertile soil in you? If it's taking root, what's it growing into? Are there any weeds choking it, which you need to get rid of?
