The plaques on either side of
the statue represent each of the steps that a man took on the
way to priestly ordination. Today those steps include:
(1) The Ministry of Lector, where the seminarian is called to
proclaim the Scriptures; (2) the Ministry of Acolyte, where the
seminarian is called to serve at the altar and minister to the
sick; (3) Candidacy, where the seminarian is recognized by the
Church as an official candidate for priesthood; (4) Ordination
to the Diaconate, in which one is called to preach the Gospel
and assist at the altar; and, finally, (5) Ordination to the
Priesthood.
Are you wondering if you or someone you know is called to
this vocation? If so, click on the Priest plaque; otherwise,
let's proceed to look at the window.
