The stone panel on the left honors the early years of Jesus' life. These years were spent in the home of Joseph and Mary. It's our model for having a Christian family. At the top of the panel, the hands of Jesus' true Father can be seen. The text is from Psalm 83, which used to be read on the Feast of the Holy Family.
The stone panel on the right shows the child Jesus teaching the astonished elders in the Temple. The text and the scene are from Luke 2:47, which is also read on the Feast of the Holy Family.
