Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord
Make Straight His Paths

These panels accompany the nave windows in a vivid portrayal of the Church's chief feasts and seasons.

The only exceptions to this general liturgical theme are three sets of panels dealing with the Church, the sacraments and the Christian family.

Taken as a whole, the panels constitute a brief biography in stone of Jesus.

Along these side aisles (see photo on right) are altars dedicated to various saints who, in some way have had a great impact on the faith in our land, such as St. Vincent de Paul in the photo below. These altars are made from imported Italian marble and each is distinct in its color, style, and ornamentation.

There are also four chapels: one dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament (where the Blessed sacrament is reserved); one for Saint Joseph; one for Our Lady, and one honoring Saint Thomas More, the patron saint of Mr. Thomas O'Neill, the benefactor whose gift to the Church in Baltimore financed the building of the Cathedral. We will be visiting each of these during this tour.

Whether a long time parishioner or a first time visitor, we invite you to take time to move prayerfully through the Cathedral in this Virtual Tour. Like reading a book of the Bible, you don't have to finish it in one day! Bookmark the page(s) you want to return to (put it in your browser's "Favorites" folder). Use this as a faith-building visual pilgrimage. Let God speak to your heart and minister to you.

We will begin outside the Cathedral and then "step into" the narthex. We will "walk" up the south side of the Cathedral (the left side as you are facing the main altar), see what's behind the sanctuary, and then proceed down the north side of the Cathedral.

Your tour guide will be Mr. Thomas O'Neill, the man behind the gift of the Cathedral. Click on his picture to meet him:
